How To Be Happy: Three Healthy Habits To Live A Happier Life

Happiness is something we all have struggled with at some point in our lives. Four years ago I didnt know what happiness was, how it felt, or how to be happy. Every day I woke up I was ready for the day to be over with before it even begin. I was fighting demons within myself and it felt likethere would never be light at the end of the tunnel. Dealing with disappontiment after disappointment  made me an angry, bitter, and an ungrateful person. I couldn’t find anything in my life to be happy about andI had plenty. I was mentally in a dark place and it was extremely hard to pull myself out of it. I realize now though, every day I had a choice to either choose to see the good in everything or continue to dwell in my own misery. Each day that came I made the conscious choice to be unhappy and the more unhappy I was with myself; the harder and more chaotic my life became. After a much-needed self evaluation, I begin to pick myself up and work on being a happier me. If you are waiting on happiness to arrive, I am here to  tell you,  it will never come because happiness starts with you. Start by doing these three simple steps and watch how much happier you begin to feel.

  • Show Gratitude
  • Stop Worrying 

Choose To Be Happy

Every day we wake up, we have the ability to make our own choices. We are powerful human beings and our minds work based on our own thinking and feelings. This is why it’s important to be mindful of what your thinking & feeling. We like to think that “Good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people,” but that’s far from the truth. The more we consciously dwell and put so much energy into negative situations, the easier it becomes for more bad things to mainfest into our lives. We have to start choosing to focus on more positive things. Happiness is no exception. If you want to be happy then everyday you need to chose to be happy. I know it sounds easier said than done, but everyday we make our own choices like (being upset, thinking about your money problems, thinking about your job, etc). We make all these choices, but somehow choosing to be happy is so complicated? I am guilty of this myself and I was making to many excuses for why I couldn’t be happy. I mean some of those excuses didn’t even make sense, HA! Once you start choosing to be happy each and every day, you will start to see your life shift in a more positive way. #BeHappy 

Show Gratitude

This is a step that most of us skip over. We can get so wrapped up in everything happening around us that we forget to be grateful for what we already have. “The struggle ends when gartitude begins.” If you want more positive changes to take place in your life, then start by showing gartitude. Appreciating the things (a home,food, clothes, car, family, etc) in your life now will make room for more blessings to flow into your life later. I think we sometimes underestimate the power of gratitude. I am guitly of be ungrateful myself & once I started shifting my mind and appericating what I already had, little did I know I was making room for more blessings to mainfest into my life. It’s the littlest things, like showing gartitude that always have a huge impact on your life. Gartitude is important for your own happiness as well. Have you ever stop to wonder how whenever you show gartitude you feel so much more happier. That’s because being grateful is being happy. Show gartitide each and everyday and watch how more positive things begin to take place in your life. 

Stop Worrying 

It’s true what they say when you stop worrying and give all your problems to God, you become a happier person. Worrying never solves anything, but instead creates more worry and problems. Ask yourself when has worrying ever stopped bad things from happening?  I’ll answer never! This is why it’s important to stop, let go, and let God. Sometimes things happen for a reason and that reason is not up to us to figure out. It took me a long time to understand why certain bad circumstances would happen in my life and it turned out it was to make room for more good things to flow into my life. You lose certain things to gain better ones that you did/didn’t realize you asked for & deserve.  Don’t worry when bad things start to happen, consider it dead weight, and leave it up to God. The less you worry the happier you become because you begin to realize things will always work out for you in the end. 

In Conclusion 

You have to wake up everyday and chose to be happy. Nobody can make you happy if you aren’t happy with yourself.  We are the creators of our own life and everything that happens to us is the result of our own thinking and feelings. Chose happiness even when you don’t want to because your life will become a whole lot better. Bad things we always happen as a result of not being in control of the world and the people in it, but that shouldn’t affect your happiness. Be mindful of your thinking because your “thoughts can become things.”
